Myck Kabongo declares for 2013 NBA Draft

Texas Longhorns sophomore guard Myck Kabongo has elected to declare for the 2013 NBA Draft. What does his draft stock look like at the moment?

Texas Longhorns sophomore guard Myck Kabongo will declare for the 2013 NBA Draft, according to the Longhorn Network. Last summer Kabongo flirted with idea of declaring for the draft, worked out with Tristan Thompson of the Cleveland Cavaliers and trained with a man who was connected to the agent for LeBron James.

Those moves landed Kabongo in hot water with the NCAA, and Kabongo was suspended for the remainder of the season in December as a punishment for receiving those impermissible benefits. The suspension was reduced to 23 games following an expedited appeal, and the 6’1 guard from Toronto went on to post 14.6 points, 5.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds for the Longhorns in 2013. He averaged 9.6 points and 5.2 assists in 34 games as a freshman.

Kabongo fell from No. 34 NBA draft prospect on the Draft Express top-100 prospect board in December to his current spot at No. 47 overall. He is considered a mid-second-round pick in the upcoming draft, though a strong showing at the NBA Combine and in team workouts could boost his stock again.
