Ty Lawson ‘likely to play’ vs. Mavericks, according to report

Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson is reportedly ready to play on Friday night against the Mavericks. Will he look like his normal self on the floor?

Ron Chenoy-US PRESSWIRE

Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson is expected to play on Friday night against the Dallas Mavericks, but he is not expected to start, according to Nuggets beat reporter Aaron J. Lopez. Lawson has missed eight of the last nine games due to a plantar fascia tear in right heel.

The Nuggets have gone 7-1 without Lawson in the lineup, and at 54-24 they hold a one-game lead over the Grizzlies and a two-game lead over the Clippers for the third best record in the Western Conference. Lawson tested himself in practice on Tuesday and wasn't quite ready for the game on Wednesday, so expect the team to ease him back into the lineup when he returns.

The Nuggets have just four regular season games remaining on their schedule -- at Dallas, vs. Portland, at Milwaukee and vs. Phoenix. With Danilo Gallinari done for the season due to an ACL injury, the Nuggets will need Lawson at something close to 100 percent in the playoffs if they hope to make any noise.
