Al Jefferson dominated Minnesota with 40 points, 13 rebounds and six assists. Randy Foye and Mo Williams scored 16 points each, and Paul Millsap scored 10 for the Jazz, who shot 58 percent for the game.
J.J. Barea led the Timberwolves with 23 points off the bench. Ricky Rubio scored 13 points.
The Jazz built a big early lead, but Minnesota bounced back with a strong second quarter to take a one-point lead into halftime. Rubio got the Jazz to within three with 14 seconds left, but Utah was able to hold on.
