Kenneth Faried injury: Nuggets F leaves game after spraining ankle

Shortly after losing Danilo Gallinari to a torn ACL, it appears the Nuggets might’ve lost yet another key member of their frontcourt on Sunday afternoon.

USA TODAY Sports

Update: The Nuggets Twitter account announced that Faried was out with a left ankle sprain, but that X-rays were negative.

With the NBA playoffs right around the corner, the Denver Nuggets just cannot stay healthy.

On Sunday afternoon, as Denver hosted the Portland Trail Blazers, starting forward Kenneth Faried was forced to leave the game after badly turning his ankle while driving to the rim. Faried immediately went down and had to be assisted off the floor by his teammates.

Here is video of the injury, courtesy of SB Nation’s Blazers Edge.

It’s pretty clear Faried sprained his ankle on the play, although as the broadcasters mentioned, it appeared he might’ve done damage to his knee as well.

The team is yet to release an official update on the injury or how much time Faried is expected to miss. He has started all 79 games this season.

The injury comes shortly after the Nuggets lost sharp-shooting forward Danilo Gallinari for the season with a torn ACL. For a team that had their eyes set on an NBA Finals run next month, the recent run of injuries has to be very concerning for the coaching staff.
