Dirk Nowitzki reaches 25,000 points

Dirk Nowitzki reached another scoring milestone, reaching 25,000 points scored in his career.

Dirk Nowitzki reached the 25,000 points milestone, passing the mark during the second quarter of the Dallas Mavericks' game against the New Orleans Hornets on Sunday. He needed to score at least 10 points to complete the achievement. Nowitzki is the 17th player in NBA history to reach the milestone, and he is also 17th overall in all-time scoring in the league.

Nowitzki scored his 25,000th point out of the triple-threat, sizing up Robin Lopez in the mid-range and sinking the basket in his face. Enjoy the GIF:

Through the season Nowitzki has averaged 17.1 points per game in the 50 games he has played, lower than his career average of 22.6 points. At the age of 34, Nowitzki has dazzled the league for 15 seasons with his versatile scoring from the post, the mid-range, and beyond the arc. Most notable is his signature fadeaway with a leg kick out.

The Mavericks have had a down year as they will miss the playoffs, but Nowitzki remains as a consistent offensive force in the league because of his unique skill set.
