The New York Knicks signed free-agent forward Quentin Richardson for the rest of the season, the team announced Tuesday. This continues their process of bringing every player from the early 2000s back into the NBA.

The 33-year-old swingman hasn’t played in the NBA all season. He will be eligible for the playoffs.

Because Richardson had not played with another NBA team this season, he will be eligible for the postseason.
Richardson, a 12-year NBA veteran, played in 48 games for the Magic last season, averaging 4.5 points and 2.6 rebounds on 38/35/83 shooting.
This will be Richardson’s second stint with the Knicks. He started for most of four seasons from 2005-2008, one of the many talented but ill-fitting pieces put together by Isiah Thomas during his stint as the team’s GM.
While his statistical production tailed off dramatically as he entered his 30s, Richardson is still capable of playing physical defense at 6’6, 230 and spotting up along the three-point line, the only two roles he will likely be asked to fill in New York.
The signing is even more intriguing because of Richardson's long feud with Paul Pierce, which could be continued in the Knicks' upcoming first-round series with the Celtics. No one knows the exact origins of the dispute, but the two have apparently been at each other's throats since their college days.
