Phil Jackson eager to return to NBA, according to report

The man with 11 championship rings is reportedly ready to make his return to the NBA.

USA TODAY Sports

Having sat out the past two seasons, longtime NBA coach Phil Jackson reportedly wants back into the league.

Sources close to the Zen Master say he has, “become increasingly interested in working in the NBA next season,” according to Ramona Shelburne and Marc Stein of ESPN.com.

Jackson may not necessarily return to the role he’s always filled in the past. The former coach became “intrigued” by the idea of leaving the bench to join a team’s front office, something he’s never done before, during his time off.

Since leaving the Lakers' bench following the 2010-11 season, Jackson received some interest from teams such as the Brooklyn Nets, but those opportunities never came to fruition. It appears he may have a different kind of role in mind, one more similar to that of Pat Riley in Miami.
