Ersan Ilyasova injury: MRI reveals bruised wrist

The negative test result is a relief for the Bucks as they prepare for Game 1 against the Heat.

USA TODAY Sports

Milwaukee Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova is ready for the team's first-round playoff series with the Miami Heat after an MRI on his right wrist showed no significant injury.

Ilyasova officially has a bruised wrist, which remains swollen, but he expects to be in the starting lineup for Game 1 in Miami on Sunday evening. The injury initially happened after a fall to the floor on Monday in the Bucks home loss to the Denver Nuggets. Ilyasova sat out the final regular season game against Oklahoma City on Wednesday pending further examination of his right wrist.

While the Bucks struggled down the stretch of the regular season, Ilyasova has played well when he hasn’t been sidelined. Since the beginning of March, Ilyasova has played in 19 of the Bucks’ 26 games, scoring over 20 points in ten of those outings.

Milwaukee will need all hands on deck to take their best shot at the Heat, and Ilyasova's ability to spread the floor for Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis will be key. Ilyasova is the leading three-point shooter for the Bucks, making 44.4% of his shots from behind the arc. He also scored 26 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in a March 15 loss to Miami.
