Mike Brown closing in on deal to be Cleveland Cavaliers’ head coach, according to report

The Cleveland Cavaliers could announce the hiring of Mike Brown as early as Wednesday, according to a report.

Mike Brown has reached a "handshake agreement" to return as the Cleveland Cavaliers head coach, and the official announcement could come as soon as Wednesday, reports the Akron Beacon Journal's Jason Lloyd. There are apparently a few "issues of control" yet to be resolved for Brown, who is considered to have the leverage deep into the talks, Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Wojnarowski also reports that the deal is expected to be worth five years, the final of which would include a buyout option.

The Cavs' head coach from 2005-10 would replace Byron Scott, who was fired last week after struggling with a young roster.

Brown was most recently fired by the Los Angeles Lakers five games into the 2012-13 season after leading them to a 1-4 record. In his lockout-shortened season with Los Angeles in 2011-12, Brown led the Lakers to the second round of the playoffs where they were eliminated by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Though Brown was fired by Cleveland owner Dan Gilbert after many successful campaigns, there is no bad blood between the two sides. That's apparently the case considering Brown reportedly had no interest in coaching the Phoenix Suns as his focus remained on the Cavs job, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
