Joe Johnson injury update: Nets guard will try to play in Game 3

Johnson did not participate in shootaround Thursday morning, but his status for Game 3 hasn’t been decided yet.

Joe Johnson, who has battled with a heel injury for most of the season, isn't 100 percent, but he'll try to play through plantar fasciitis in his left foot when the Nets play the Bulls in Game 3 of their first-round series on Thursday, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

Neither Johnson nor P.J. Carlesimo would commit to anything when talking to reporters at shootaround on Thursday morning, but both appeared to be cautiously optimistic about his chances of playing.

Johnson hasn't been all that effective in the series, but he's still a huge part of the Nets' game plan. He's the only other consistent perimeter threat they can rely on next to Deron Williams, and if he can't play, Brooklyn will have to jerry-rig a rotation of Jerry Stackhouse, Keith Bogans and MarShon Brooks on the wings.

Through two games against Chicago, Johnson is averaging 16.5 points, four assists and four rebounds on 42 percent shooting.
