Before the season started, Nate Robinson had a hard time even finding a team to sign him. During the season, there were rumors the Bulls were considering cutting him as a cost saving measure. On Saturday in a 142-134 triple overtime win over the Brooklyn Nets to give the team a 3-1 lead in the first found series between the teams, Robinson nearly eclipsed a franchise record set by Michael Jordan.

Robinson scored 34 points, including 23 in the fourth quarter, one shy of Jordan's franchise playoff record for most points in a quarter, helping Chicago overcome a double-digit deficit in the final three minutes of the game and force overtime. Jay Patt of Blog A Bull succinctly described how the game unfolded when the Bulls fell behind by 14 points late in the fourth quarter -- "but then Nate Robinson happened."
Tom Lorenzo of Nets Daily wrote that, though Robinson’s performance was brilliant, Brooklyn’s regulation lead should’ve been insurmountable with so little time remaining.
“This game never, ever should have gotten to overtime, which is the story here,” Lorenzo wrote. “The 4th quarter letdown was huge. The series is now 3-1 Bulls. Starting Monday, Brooklyn has to win three straight or their season ends.”
