Pau Gasol injury: Lakers’ big man playing through torn finger ligament in Game 4

Pau Gasol will play the Los Angeles Lakers’ Game 4 with a splint on his right middle finger.

Pau Gasol will play the Lakers' Game 4 against the Spurs with a torn finger ligament, according to the Orange County Register's Kevin Ding. The Los Angeles forward is expected to wear a splint on his right middle finger in the elimination contest on Sunday.

Gasol told Ding that he injured the finger in Game 3. In that contest on Friday, he recorded a triple-double of 11 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, but Los Angeles lost 120-89 and fell three games to none against San Antonio.

Additionally, Gasol was already battling soreness in both knees, not to mention a plantar fascia problem in his foot, according to ESPN.

It's as if the Lakers' list of injuries wasn't long enough. Facing elimination, the team will be without guards Steve Nash, Steve Blake and Jodie Meeks, along with forward Metta World Peace. Nash and Blake are battling hamstring injuries, Meeks has a sprained ankle and World Peace has a knee issue. And of course, Kobe Bryant has missed the whole series after tearing his Achilles tendon on April 12.

Gasol will likely be part of a starting lineup including Dwight Howard, Darius Morris, Andrew Goudelock and Earl Clark.
