George Maloof is expected to represent the Maloof family during the Seattle presentation to a pair of NBA ownership committees on Wednesday. Meanwhile, limited partner David Luchetti matched Chris Hansen’s bid for the 7 percent of the Kings tied up in bankruptcy proceedings.

Back in January, the Maloof family reached a tentative deal with Seattle’s Chris Hansen for the majority stake in the Kings. Since then, the Maloofs have mostly stayed out of sight, with Seattle working to show it could support an NBA team and Sacramento doing all it could to keep the Kings in the city. But now the family is back in the picture in these final days of the battle, which is a good thing for Sacramento, according to SB Nation’s Tom Ziller.
Once the Seattle presentation is over, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson and his group of investors will make their pitch to keep the Kings. Johnson has been working diligently over the past three years to save the Kings, and he believes the city has done everything possible to do just that.
A little bonus for Sacramento heading into Wednesday’s presentations is the fact that limited partner David Lucchetti matched Hansen’s bid for the 7 percent of the Kings currently tied up in bankruptcy proceedings. This move prevents Hansen from having any ownership of the team as the crucial meetings get under way.
Following these meetings, the ownership committees will make a recommendation to the full NBA Board of Governors in two weeks.
