Allen Crabbe to leave Cal, enter 2013 NBA Draft

“It has been a dream of mine to play at the next level for a long time and I feel deep down in my heart this is the right decision,” Crabbe said in the release. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Cal and learned a lot from my coaches and teammates. I will miss a lot of people at this University both in basketball and in school. I will always be a Golden Bear at heart.“At 6’6 and a wiry 210 pounds, Crabbe throws his name into the conversation as a pure scorer. DraftExpress lists the guard as going first in the second round of the draft, and his most NBA-ready aspect comes in his jump shot, as he is not an above-average player in either strength or athletic ability.

But Crabbe can still get his shot over anyone with his length. He scored 20 or more points in 15 games during his junior season and twice scored more than 30. Though his 3-point shooting percent dipped from 40 percent his freshman year to 34.8 percent in his junior campaign, his overall shooting percentages rose each year to 45.9 this past season.

Crabbe, who also averaged 6.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game this past season, led Cal to the third round of the NCAA Tournament, where the Golden Bears fell to Syracuse.
