In a reversal of fortunes for the teams based on their dissimilar histories, the Clippers, who just won their 50th game of the season last week, a franchise record, could clinch their first-ever division title with a win Sunday. The Lakers come into the game as the team struggling just to make the playoffs. The Lakers have a half-game lead over the Utah Jazz for the eighth and final playoff spot.
Both teams have played well at Staples Center this season -- the Clippers are 29-9 at home and the Lakers are 25-12.
The teams have played three times this season, with the Clippers winning all three of them. Chris Paul is averaging 24 points and nearly 14 assists in those games and Kobe Bryant is averaging 32 points per game and shooting 59 percent against the Clippers.
