North Carolina Tar Heels sophomore guard P.J. Hairston came into his own in the second half of the season, scoring double figures in the last 18 games of the year, but will return to North Carolina for his junior season according to Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports.

North Carolina’s leading scorer, guard P.J. Hairston will not enter the 2013 NBA Draft and will return to school for his junior season.

Hairston lead the Tar Heels with 14.6 points per game, making 39.6% of his three-point shots and also added 4.3 rebounds per game. He started the season slowly, but quickly became one of UNC's go to players. In the NCAA Tournament round of 64, Hairston scored 23 points, going 5-of-8 from beyond the arc in North Carolina's 78-71 win over Villanova.
The 6'5, 220 pound guard showed great improvement from a freshman season in which he only averaged 5.7 points per game. Goodman was unsure about the status of Carolina forwards sophomore James Michael McAdoo and junior Reggie Bullock, both of whom could turn pro. If McAdoo and Bullock both leave, Hairston will be expected to carry a larger load in the UNC offense next season.
