Jonas Valanciunas injury: Raptors big man leaves on stretcher vs. Bulls

He was apparently injured on the final play of the game.

Toronto Raptors big man Jonas Valanciunas left the United Center on a stretcher after Tuesday's win over the Chicago Bulls after colliding with teammate Rudy Gay on the game's final play.

Valanciunas was in a scrum following a jump ball the Bulls would control, but Nate Robinson missed a half-court heave as time expired to seal Toronto's 101-98 win. He was knocked around in a scrum under the basket, as pictured below. (Hover over the GIF to animate.)

Valanciunas received what Steve Aschburner of NBA.com characterized as “extreme care.”

Valanciunas started and played 24 minutes Tuesday, scoring eight points in the win. He had scored in double figures in 12 games in a row for the Raptors before Tuesday. The Lithuanian 20-year-old was the Eastern Conference’s rookie of the month for March.
