New Orleans Pelicans shooting guard Eric Gordon is recovering after undegoing arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle to "to alleviate pain caused by particles of scar tissue," the team announced on Friday. The surgery was considered a minor procedure. Gordon will begin rehabilitating his ankle immediately, and he is expected to resume basketball activities this summer.

The 24-year-old guard missed 40 games in 2012-13 and played under restrictions due to a right knee injury. Gordon has struggled to stay on the court since being traded from the Los Angeles Clippers to New Orleans in December of 2011. He has only played in 51 games for the franchise over two seasons.
Gordon's future with the Pelicans is murky at the moment. He got involved in a screaming match with head coach Monty Williams back in April, and general manager Dell Demps refused to commit to keeping the former Indiana star heading into the offseason.
The franchise matched a four-year, $58 million offer sheet from the Phoenix Suns to retain Gordon in the summer of 2011, and he never quite accepted that decision. Demps will have a difficult decision to make this summer if a rival GM calls with a credible offer.
