A decision on Toronto Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo is expected this week, and new Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment CEO Tim Leiweke is reportedly leaning toward replacing him, according to Bruce Arthur of The National Post.

New Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment CEO Tim Leiweke is expected to make a decision on Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo in the coming days.

It was initially reported over the weekend that the Raptors were expected to at least pick up the option on Colangelo’s contract, but Leiweke may be having second thoughts. The decision was hoped to be made in time for the company’s board meeting on Wednesday, but Michael Grange of Sportsnet reports that the board may be willing to wait a little longer to make the final call.
If the decision is pushed back, there’s some speculation that Colangelo will make the first move and offer his resignation in the coming days. Colangelo may be growing frustrated, as the long waiting period serves as evidence that Leiweke does not believe him to be the best man for the job moving forward.
Leiweke has several paths he could choose from. He could either pick up Colangelo's option, offer an extension or choose to go in another direction. If he looks elsewhere, Leiweke has made plenty of NBA contacts over the years, having been a CEO of AEG and also president of the Denver Nuggets. One name that has come up is Phil Jackson, but he's not expected to take a job in Toronto.
Colangelo came to the Raptors in 2006 and won executive of the year in 2007. But after two straight playoff appearances to open his tenure in Toronto, the team has not been back since. Colangelo has made some bold moves of late in an attempt to get the team back in playoff contention, including the blockbuster Rudy Gay deal this season.
However, Colangelo may not be around to see if his moves pay off.
