Knicks wing Iman Shumpert missed practice Monday due to left knee soreness, but he says the injury isn’t related to last year’s ACL surgery.

Shumpert, who underwent surgery last year to repair a torn ACL, told reporters that the old injury isn’t the source of his current pain. He says the soreness is actually the result of a hard fall he took during the team’s 82-71 loss to Indiana in Game 3.
After missing roughly half of the regular season while rehabbing the knee injury, Shumpert returned in January and began finding his form this month. His performance has improved during the team’s postseason run, as he’s averaging 9.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game while shooting an efficient 44 percent from beyond the arc.
With the Knicks looking to avoid a 3-1 series deficit Tuesday, the presence Shumpert provides on both sides of the court will be badly needed.
