Kevin Garnett injury: Celtics big man won’t need ankle surgery, according to medical staff
Boston’s Kevin Garnett will opt for rest rather than surgery to heal up his left ankle.

Garnett battled an ankle injury during the latter portion of the season, missing eight straight games at one point from late March to early April. The big man returned to play in three more games during the regular season while sitting out two others.
Garnett played all six games in the Celtics' first-round series against the New York Knicks. The 36-year-old averaged 12.7 points and 13.7 rebounds in 35.3 minutes per game as Boston lost in six to New York.
The Celtics are still awaiting word from Garnett about whether he plans to return next season. He still has two years and just over $24 million left on his contract, with the final year including $6 million guaranteed.
