Luol Deng injury: Bulls forward will skip wrist surgery, according to report
Bulls forward Luol Deng has been playing most of the last two seasons with a torn ligament in his left wrist, but he is not planning on having surgery this offseason to repair the injury.

Deng initially injured the wrist in January of last year’s lockout-shortened season. He elected to play through the injury, and although he made the All-Star team for the first time, he struggled with his shooting. The Bulls’ forward shot a career-low 41.2 percent from the field.
Deng decided to opt-out of surgery in the offseason in order to represent Great Britain in the 2012 London Summer Olympics. Deng made his second straight All-Star team despite playing through the wrist injury and a variety of other ailments, but he once again had some issues with his shooting. He shot 42.6 percent overall and 32.2 percent from three, with those numbers dipping to 38.1 and 5.6 percent in the postseason before spinal tap complications sidelined him for the Bulls’ final seven games.
It's unclear just how much the wrist is affecting Deng's shooting percentages, with the absence of star point guard Derrick Rose and a fractured thumb likely also contributed to the struggles. Deng is hoping that rest will help heal the wrist, and with Rose returning next season, perhaps those shooting numbers will see a spike.
