New Orleans Pelicans point guard Greivis Vasquez underwent surgery to remove bone spurs from his right ankle on Saturday, Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today reports. The team said he will begin rehabilitation on the injury immediately.
Greivis Vasquez injury: Pelicans guard underwent ankle surgery
The Pelicans guard should be healthy again in 12-to-16 weeks after ankle surgery Saturday.

The current timetable for recovery is 12-to-16 weeks, which Vasquez told the world through his Twitter account Friday night. That shouldn’t impede his ability to be ready for the beginning of next season, but it could be something worth watching should the rehab hit a setback.
Coming off a breakout season with New Orleans, Vasquez is one of the team's best players going into its first season under the Pelicans nickname. Having him healthy for next season, along with other key players like Anthony Davis, Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson, could turn the team into a serious up-and-comer.
Getting his first opportunity to start full time, Vasquez averaged 13.9 points, 9.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 78 games this season. His 704 assists were the most of any player in the league.
