Indiana Pacers power forward David West is set to become a free agent on July 1, but he may already be leaning toward re-signing with the Pacers this summer. West will turn 33 years old in August and he is in the final year of a two-year, $20 million contract he signed with Indiana in December of 2011. He has been an essential part of the Pacers' run to the Eastern Conference Finals this year, and when asked if he wants to re-sign with Indiana (via Chris Tomasson Fox Sports Miami), he had this to say following the team's Game 5 loss to Miami:

“Yeah. I love what we’ve been able to accomplish in the lockout season (of 2011-12) and this full season. And I just pretty much love how this group has grown together since I’ve been there.”

“I don’t think we can officially [negotiate before July 1]. But these guys know that I’m with them (for the future).”

West tore the ACL in his left knee during his final season with the New Orleans Hornets in 2010-11 and the Pacers stepped up with the most attractive offer in free agency. West started all 66 games during the lockout-shortened season of 2011-12 and 73 contests in 2012-13, and he has been very productive with the Pacers. This season he posted 17.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game, all of which are better than his career averages in the NBA.
The Pacers are down 3-2 to LeBron James and the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals, and Game 6 will be played in Indiana on Saturday.
