Marvin Williams injury: Jazz forward to undergo Achilles surgery
Marvin Williams will undergo surgery on his right Achilles tendon and is expected to miss at least six months.

Williams started in 51 of the Jazz’s games in his first season with the franchise, and played in 73 games overall. He averaged a career-low 7.2 points per game on 42 percent shooting with Utah.
Williams has a $7.5 million player option he can exercise with the Jazz. While there has been no official word on whether he will accept the guaranteed money from Utah, an injury that will sideline him until January at the earliest is an incentive for Williams to accept the final year of his contract.
Williams was the second overall pick of the 2005 NBA Draft, originally selected by the Atlanta Hawks. The Jazz acquired him in a trade that sent Devin Harris to Atlanta.
