Dwyane Wade injury: Guard will play in Heat’s Game 1 against Bulls

The Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade told reporters he’ll be ready for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals series against the Chicago Bulls.

Dwyane Wade told reporters that he thinks he is "good to go" for the series opener Monday night against the Chicago Bulls, according to The Associated Press' Tim Reynolds.

The Miami Heat guard has been battling a bone bruise in his knee for some time now. He sat for all but three of the final 10 regular season games before returning for the first three games of the playoffs against the Milwaukee Bucks. Wade then sat out the elimination game against the Bucks.

The results of the Heat's sweep of Milwaukee, Wade's absence from Game 4 and the Bulls' seven-game series against the Brooklyn Nets is an 11-day period of relative rest. He only returned to the team's practice on Friday.

While Wade told the Miami Herald that his injury is still considered day-to-day and that he’s unlikely to get better in the playoffs, there’s a good bit of evidence that he’s been very good when he does play. In three games played against the Bucks, Wade played 34 minutes per game and although he shot just 37 percent from the floor, he also averaged seven rebounds, six assists and three steals.
