Derrick Rose injury: Return against Heat not ruled out

The Chicago Bulls wouldn’t go as far as ruling point guard Derrick Rose out of returning from an ACL injury during the conference semifinals series against the Miami Heat.

Derrick Rose hasn't ruled out the possibility of eventually returning in the Eastern Conference semifinals series against the Miami Heat, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell. Rose told Friedell on Monday that while he wouldn't be playing in Game 1 on Monday, his status is "still up in the air" and that he "might have a chance" at eventually taking the court for the first time in a year.

Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau gave a cryptic update on his MVP point guard, saying "we'll see" about the possibility of Rose's return in the second round.

Rose tore his ACL in last year’s playoffs and though he has been working out with the team, he has not committed to returning this season, either.

While all the speculation might not indicate much at all -- Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Rose has no intentions of returning this year -- the Heat are preparing for Rose to return, coach Erik Spoelstra told ESPN.

When the Bulls and Heat open the series on Monday night, Chicago will also be without Kirk Hinrich (calf bruise) and Luol Deng (illness). Deng was admitted to the hospital last Wednesday with issues following a spinal tap.
