Generally speaking, the construction of a new basketball arena isn’t quite like that of some other major sporting venues. With the limitations of being indoors, among other things, most arenas tend to focus on functionality instead of aesthetics, utility instead of beauty.
New Golden State Warriors preliminary arena renderings are pretty neat
If the new renderings from the proposed waterfront arena are any indication, the Warriors’ new San Francisco home could be a snazzy one.

Based on the renderings released Monday for the proposed waterfront arena in San Francisco, the Golden State Warriors appear to have something else in mind for their new home. The yet-to-be-named venue could be one of the shining examples of how to build a truly beautiful place to watch basketball upon its scheduled completion in 2017.
For an arena placed on Piers 30-32 of the San Francisco waterfront, it appears the designers have been determined to maximize the unique location in a variety of ways. With beautiful views both outside and inside the arena -- you can see the Bay Bridge from your seat! -- this building could really be one of the most striking in professional sports when it opens in 2017.
