Down three with 29 seconds left, the San Antonio Spurs needed to do something to complete a stunning comeback against the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of their first-round series. As is his custom, Gregg Popovich ran an actual play, putting Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green in what appeared to be a baseline floppy action. The two players badly messed up this coverage. Curry thought the Warriors’ plan was to switch, but Jack didn’t do that. The moment of confusion allowed Green to pop free for what proved to be a wide open shot.
Jack was the hero a minute ago when his 12-foot leaning baseline jumper gave Golden State a three-point lead. Curry was the hero all game. If the Warriors can’t rally in overtime, they’ll be the goats for this breakdown.
