The consistent word in coaching circles is that the Clippers want to go “big” with their forthcoming coaching hire after what insiders continue to describe as the inevitable dismissal of Vinny Del Negro in the wake of L.A.‘s first-round exit.
Despite leading the Clippers to a 56-26 regular season record, the best mark in franchise history, Del Negro’s job was widely seen as in jeopardy headed into the playoffs.
Dating back to his days with the Chicago Bulls, there have been criticisms about Del Negro's system on both sides of the ball as well as his rotations.
If Paul decides to stay in L.A., there will be no shortage of suitors for the Clippers job and the opportunity to coach two All-Stars in the prime of their career.
