The Brooklyn Nets have contacted former NBA coach Phil Jackson about becoming the team's next head coach, but there are no indications thus far that Jackson is interested, according to USA Today's Sam Amick. The 11-time NBA champion head coach has openly been positioning himself for a front office job rather than a coach once more, making a move to Brooklyn seemingly unlikely.

NBA.com's David Aldridge first reported Jackson was a target of the Nets.
But the Nets seek in Jackson a bright offensive mind, and one of Jackson's disciples, Indiana Pacers assistant coach Brian Shaw, is also on the list of candidates should Jackson formally turn Brooklyn down, according to Amick. So too are former Milwaukee Bucks coach Scott Skiles, and long-time NBA coach and current Southern Methodist head man Larry Brown.

Shaw, who played in Jackson's Triangle offense with the Lakers, has for a while now been considered a candidate to become an NBA head coach. He won't be interviewing for a lead job until the Pacers are finished with their season, Amick reports. Indiana is currently leading the New York Knicks 1-0 in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Skiles was relieved of his duties as the Bucks coach this season after five years on the job. He previously coached for the Chicago Bulls and Phoenix Suns.
Brown, a long-time NBA coach, finished his first season with the SMU Mustangs this year. He is tied to recently-extended Nets general manager Billy King, who was with the Philadelphia 76ers when Brown coached there from 1997-2003.
Amick’s sources also tell him that former Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan is unlikely to be joining his former point guard Deron Williams in Brooklyn.
