While no official decision has been made yet, Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers "believes it 'may be time for a change' in his status" with the franchise, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard.

After spending nine years returning Celtics basketball to its former glory, coach Doc Rivers may be ready to part ways with the franchise.

Following the Celtics’ elimination in the first round of the postseason, Rivers spent a few weeks avoiding discussing his future plans with the media. In a text message sent to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe last week, the coach said he needed to “detox” following the season, but refused to comment on his intentions going forward.
One of the highest-paid coaches in all of professional sports, Rivers still has three years and $21 million remaining on his contract with Boston. One report suggests Rivers doesn't want to go through another rebuilding process in Boston as veterans Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett exit their respective primes.
Should he officially decide to leave his gig in Boston, Rivers will finish his Celtics coaching career with a 416-295 record, two trips to the NBA Finals and one championship. Overall, he's 587-473 as an NBA head coach, including his four-plus years with the Orlando Magic.
