D’Alessandro takes over the Kings’ front office as new ownership retools the franchise after being considered a front-runner to replace Ujiri with the Nuggets. Sacramento, including new owner Vivek Ranadive, hopes the hiring of D’Allesandro will help their team return to winning ways.
As noted when the Kings received permission to interview D'Alessandro, Sacramento's new general manager is widely considered a "hot commodity because of his versatility in analytics, salary cap knowledge and scouting."
Sacramento hired Geoff Petrie to be the team’s GM in 1994, eventually lasting nearly 20 years before finally parting ways with the organization last month as Ranadive looked to hire his own guys. If D’Alessandro lasts remotely that long with the Kings, it’ll be quite the first hire for new ownership.
