Nets coaching search: Brian Shaw reportedly the front-runner

Has Brooklyn zeroed in on a coaching candidate? Brian Shaw is reportedly the Nets’ primary focus as they search for a new head coach.

The Brooklyn Nets have yet to replace interim head coach P.J. Carlesimo, but a frontrunner has reportedly emerged to fill the vacancy. Indiana Pacers assistant coach Brian Shaw will be a top candidate in the team's search, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

The Nets were previously linked to Phil Jackson, who ultimately turned down the coaching position, preferring a front office job. Shaw had served as an assistant coach under Jackson with the Los Angeles Lakers for six seasons and was widely-considered a lock to replace Jackson when he retired. Los Angeles signed Mike Brown to be their next head coach, however, which ultimately led to Shaw signing with the Pacers in 2011.

Shaw has been linked to multiple coaching vacancies but has not formally interviewed with any teams. The Pacers will play a deciding Game 7 against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday.

Wojnarowski also reports the Nets have not shown any inclination in meeting with Lionel Hollins despite the Memphis Grizzlies giving him permission to speak with other teams, as well as previous reports linking the two sides.
