Clippers refuse to send Celtics draft pick for Doc Rivers, per report

A blockbuster between the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics could be in jeopardy.

The refusal of the Los Angeles Clippers to include a first-round draft pick in return for Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers has put the deal in jeopardy, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. Sources told Wojnarowski that the Celtics won't release Rivers from his current contract without compensation, and they also said the Clippers have put no offers on the table involving picks.

The Clippers are threatening to end discussions regarding the potential blockbuster that previously hit another snag on Thursday.

The NBA voiced concerns to the Clippers and Celtics that making separate trades that in whole involved Rivers, Celtics forward Kevin Garnett, Clippers center DeAndre Jordan and picks was illegal. NBA commissioner David Stern said that a trade of Garnett for Jordan could not be related to a separate swap of Rivers and picks.

The Celtics were asking to receive Jordan and a pick for Garnett, but were also looking for a another draft pick for Rivers. ESPN reported Thursday that the Clippers were first concentrating on landing Rivers before further discussing a trade for Garnett.
