The Los Angeles Clippers have offered a future first-round draft pick to the Boston Celtics for the rights to head coach Doc Rivers, and the sides are near an agreement, reports Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski.
Doc Rivers trade: Clippers reportedly offered 1st-round pick for Celtics coach
The Clippers have called the Celtics with an offer on the table for the rights to Doc Rivers.

It was first reported Friday that Rivers was no longer interested in the opportunity to coach the Clippers after discussions between the teams stalled stalled again. At that point, rumors pointed to Rivers and the Celtics discussing their future with the Clippers out of the picture.
NBA commissioner David Stern has also made his presence felt as the teams negotiate, questioning the legality of a trade as a side deal of a larger transaction and stating the league would “know how to deal with that.”
A decision was expected to be made Monday on whether Rivers would return to coaching or pursue a broadcasting gig. Boston postponed a joint press conference with GM Danny Ainge and Rivers until then.
By all indications, the Clippers have returned to the table before the Celtics’ next announcement and raised their bid. Just days ago, the Clippers were reportedly no longer offering any compensation for the rights to Rivers. Their stance appears to have softened.
