NBA Draft 2013: Denver Nuggets select Rudy Gobert, trade him to Utah Jazz

Gobert will need time to develop, but he could become a presence in the paint for years to come in Utah.

Rudy Gobert is headed to the Utah Jazz. The 7'1 big man from France was selected with the No. 27 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He was originally drafted by the Denver Nuggets, but was then dealt seconds after the selection was made for a second-round pick and cash consideration.

Gobert’s stock rose when he posted very impressive measurements at NBA Draft Combine. His freakish length is intriguing, and the 21-year-old big man projects to be a good rebounder and rim protector in the NBA. His offensive game will need to be developed, but he thrived in international competition when he was freed up to finish lobs and clean up the glass for dunks.

He will need to add weight to his lean frame and polish his post game to take the next step in his development. His upside is high, but he may need a bit more seasoning overseas before he’s ready to be a big-time contributor in the Association.

If given proper time to develop, Gobert could become a stopper in the lane for years to come in Utah.
