The Bucks are a franchise close to pushing the reset button with new head coach Larry Drew in place. Brandon Jennings, Monta Ellis and J.J. Redick could be on their way out sooner rather than later as free agency looms. It only makes sense for the front office to be thinking long-term right now.
Adetokunbo is a bit of a mystery. The 18-year-old prospect has an intriguing set of physical tools, a long wingspan and a huge set of hands, but most of the elements of his game are underdeveloped at this point. His length and agility are supplemented by solid ballhandling and passing skills, which ultimately makes him one of the most versatile prospects in the draft.
He projects as an NBA small forward, but it’s unlikely that Adetokunbo will make an immediate impact in the NBA. He will need time to develop the finer points of his game and add strength to his frame, so this pick is a long-term play on tremendous potential.
