The Philadelphia 76ers have selected point guard Nate Wolters from South Dakota State with the No. 38 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. The Sixers got the No. 38 pick and the No. 54 pick in exchange for Glen Rice Jr.

The 76ers made a trade with the Wizards in order to draft Nate Wolters out of South Dakota State.

More on Nate Wolters Wolters earned third-team AP All-American honors in his senior season with the Jackrabbits and finished fourth in scoring in Division-I with 22.7 points per game. He has good size for a point guard at 6’5, and he’s a scorer who used a crafty approach to post 20-plus points per game in his final two NCAA seasons. Wolters is a good ball handler with a high basketball IQ, but he can struggle to get off his own shot against athletic opponents. That’s where the questions arise about his NBA potential. His lateral quickness on defense has also been questioned, so he has a lot to prove at the next level.
Wolters flashed a well-rounded game and carried a huge offensive load at South Dakota State. He won’t be put in a position to work as the focal point of an offense in the NBA, so whether he succeeds may come down to how well he can run an offense and contribute as more of a spot-up shooter and creator for teammates.
Philadelphia did draft Michael Carter-Williams earlier in the night, but adding Wolters adds depth at the point guard position. Wolters can also play off the ball, so those could also play together.
