The son of a five-time NBA All-Star, Hardaway offers an impressive pedigree, shooting ability and quality athleticism in a legitimate NBA body. Never considered an elite prospect in this class for a number of reasons, Hardaway boosted his stock at the draft combine with an eye-popping effort. The Wolverine hit 19 of 25 three-pointers in front of NBA scouts, performed well in numerous athletic tests and generally proved he belonged in the first-round discussion.
After averaging 14.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game for one of the nation’s best teams during his junior year, he’s an intriguing pickup on the wings.
With J.R. Smith headed for free agency, the Knicks have a void at shooting guard. There's still a chance Smith returns, but at the very least Hardaway Jr. will provide New York with yet another shooter off the bench.
