NBA Draft 2013: Indiana Pacers select Solomon Hill with No. 23 pick

With uncertainly surrounding Danny Granger, the Pacers have drafted some wing help in the form of Solomon Hill.

The Indiana Pacers have selected Arizona forward Solomon Hill with the No. 23 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft on Thursday night. After four years in Tucson, he could make a quick impact at the next level as a seasoned rookie off the bench.

This is a bit of a surprise pick, as Hill was projected to go in the second round by most experts. Hill was toward the end of the second round in ESPN's Chad Ford's last mock, but the Pacers obviously see something in the forward that they like.

Hill never quite established himself as a star at Arizona, but he was among the most consistent players on a young Wildcats team. Though he didn’t show much improvement during his senior season, grabbing fewer rebounds and losing efficiency as a shooter, his willingness to use his body to attack the boards and play defense could translate at the next level. Should he figure out ways to offset his physical limitations on both ends of the floor, Hill could emerge as a solid two-way role player fairly quickly.

For the Pacers, Hill could provide some nice depth on the wing, especially with the uncertainty surrounding Danny Granger. If Granger is unable to stay healthy or is moved, Hill may find himself getting some immediate playing time.
