NBA Draft 2013: Orlando Magic select Romero Osby with No. 51 pick

Osby, a senior, will bring size and toughness to the Magic as a late second round selection.

With the 51st overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, the Orlando Magic selected Oklahoma Sooners forward Romero Osby.

Osby, a senior, began his college career at Mississippi State. After not seeing a lot of playing time during his first two seasons, he transferred to Oklahoma. At 6'8 and 232 pounds, Osby averaged 16 points and seven rebounds a game this past season as a senior. His offensive game is a bit limited, although he did shoot 9-of-17 from behind the arc.

Osby is not much of a defensive presence, although he has the size to match up with other power forwards around the league. This late in the second round teams are simply looking to dig up a diamond in the rough who can serve as a role player for years to come. Osby will have to earn a roster spot with the rebuilding Magic, but given his touch and offensive ability around the rim, there’s a chance he sees some early playing time next year.
