With the 60th and final draft pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, the Memphis Grizzlies selected Latvian forward Janis Timma, a 6'7 forward.
NBA Draft 2013: Memphis Grizzlies select Janis Timma with No. 60 pick
Timma is a hard-nosed player who could fit in with the Grizzlies after being Mr. Irrelevant on Thursday night.
Timma is a hard-nosed player who earned a reputation of being a sharpshooter overseas. He is still raw as a prospect and will need to continue developing physically if he hopes to play regularly in the NBA, although there is some potential for the night’s last selection.
Timma has been an NBA prospect for years now, and he finally made the decision to head to the United States during the spring. The main flaw to his game comes on the defensive end; scouts have noticed a lack of effort there throughout most of his professional career. On the other end, he often settles for poor jump shots instead of either dishing to a teammate or attacking the rim.
The Grizzlies have done a fine job developing young players in recent years. Timma will be another project, but if he buys into the system, he could be a solid find with the final pick of the second round.
