Dwight Howard sets Rockets, Mavericks, Warriors, Hawks meetings

The first round of meetings with Houston and Dallas is already on Dwight Howard’s schedule.

The Dallas Mavericks will send a group led by owner Mark Cuban and star player Dirk Nowitzki to meet with free agent center Dwight Howard on Tuesday, ESPN.com's Chris Broussard reports. The franchise hopes to sign Howard to a max contract this summer.

While teams are unable to speak with free agents until 12:01 a.m. ET on Monday, the Mavericks still won't be the first team to meet with Howard. The Houston Rockets have the initial crack at convincing Howard to leave the Lakers, as they'll meet in L.A. on Sunday night after the deadline has passed.

These will apparently be the first of many meetings for Howard and his agents, as Ramona Shelburne of ESPN Los Angeles says “at least” four teams will meet with the player.

Still, Houston and Dallas are reportedly Howard’s two most likely destinations should he leave Los Angeles. The Rockets could likely offer a better roster long-term, but Howard seems intrigued by the possibility of playing with Dirk under the ownership of Cuban.

Update: The Warriors and Hawks are getting a face-to-face meeting with Howard next week, as well.
