Unable to complete a buyout with the Turkish club of free agent forward Bojan Bogdanovic, the Brooklyn Nets have decided to move on without him and pursue alternative options, NetsDaily reported on Wednesday. The report was confirmed by the New York Times and New York Daily News, as it appears Bojan-to-Brooklyn will have to wait at least another year.

The Nets couldn’t agree to a buyout with Bogdanovic’s European club, likely ending the team’s courtship for at least a year.

After weeks of operating under the belief that Bogdanovic and his current team, Fenerbahce of Istanbul, would agree to terms on a buyout, Nets GM Billy King recently expressed concern that it wouldn’t happen. With the club seemingly looking to move on, someone else will likely receive the mini-MLE from Brooklyn instead.
A few months ago, Bogdanovic told NetsDaily his buyout with Fenerbahce was worth $2 million. By waiting until next offseason, he will be able to field offers from both the Nets and other European teams, though the Nets may not be as interested in his services even as they retain his rights.
NetsDaily also notes that King mentioned one player the team already identified as an alternative to signing Bogdanovic for the mini-MLE. That offer can't amount to more than $10 million over three years, which shouldn't be enough to land Andrei Kirilenko, but could be enough to get another contributing piece.
