Los Angeles Lakers rookie big man Ryan Kelly, the No. 48 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft out of Duke, had his foot injury examined by a specialist on Monday, and the team announced that a CT scan revealed that Kelly is still at least six weeks away from being cleared for running and jumping. Kelly underwent surgery to repair his foot back in April, and it was estimated that he would need three months to recover, but the recent update on his status eliminates the possibility of a Summer League appearance in Las Vegas.
Lakers’ Ryan Kelly to miss Vegas Summer League due to foot injury
Los Angeles Lakers rookie forward Ryan Kelly recently had his foot injury examined, and he is still at least six weeks away from engaging in basketball activities.

Kelly was left off the Summer League Roster -- which is highlighted by the likes of Chris Douglas-Roberts, Josh Selby and Lazar Hayward -- and now the sweet-shooting big man will have to wait for training camp to make his impression on the team.
Mike D'Antoni has always had a soft spot for big men that can stretch the floor, so it will be very interesting to see if Kelly can get healthy and carve out a role on the team next year. In the wake of Dwight Howard's decision to leave L.A. this summer there are definitely some minutes up for grabs in the frontcourt.
