Kobe Bryant could return to the Los Angeles Lakers much sooner than expected, Lakers vice president Jim Buss said on Thursday night, according to Arash Markazi of ESPN Los Angeles.
Kobe Bryant injury: Lakers star could play in preseason, according to VP Jim Buss
In a television interview, Lakers vice president Jim Buss indicated that his star player is ahead of schedule as he rehabilitates a torn left Achilles tendon.

“Well, we’re in Vegas, and I would bet a lot of money that this guy comes back probably in preseason,” Buss said in an interview with NBA TV. “He’s real sharp in taking care of himself and he’s not going to rush anything just to get back and prove a point. He’s going to come back when he’s right. He’s a machine. He’s inhuman. I see him coming back at the beginning of this season. I can’t believe how much he’s progressed so far.”
Bryant underwent surgery for a torn left Achilles tendon in April, with a recovery timetable of six to nine months, Markazi says. A six-month recovery would make Bryant available in October, before the start of the regular season.
