Derrick Rose injury: Bulls star to play ‘normal minutes’ in preseason

The Bulls guard recently said that he feels 100 percent healthy and will be ready for training camp.

Derrick Rose will play normal minutes with the rest of his teammates during the preseason, head coach Tom Thibodeau told ESPN Chicago. That's welcome news for the Chicago Bulls after spending all of last season waiting for the superstar guard's return from knee surgery that never happened.

“He’ll play like he normally would in the preseason. Usually we start off with eight-minute segments for the starters, first and third period, and we’ll build from there. We’ll see what he can handle. I think there’s going to be some rust initially, but I fully expect him to get back to (being) the player we all know that he is.”

Rose recently said during a promotional trip across Europe that his knee feels 100 percent. According to front office members, Rose hasn’t encountered any setbacks in his recovery and there is a feeling that he will be ready to go on opening night. Thibodeau recently said that he’s looking forward to seeing Rose play in the preseason.

Rose hasn’t played competitively since tearing his ACL, although he has been able to work on his jump shot and do some light conditioning.
