Andre Iguodala offered 4-year, $56 million contract by Kings, according to report

The Kings are trying to change the culture in Sacramento, and they’ve reportedly made a big offer to Andre Iguodala in an effort to make that happen.

USA TODAY Sports

The Sacramento Kings have reportedly made veteran small forward Andre Iguodala their top free agent priority this summer. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Kings have extended a four-year offer worth $56 million to Iguodala.

If Iguodala were to sign, it would not be a max deal, although it would be close. With restricted free agent Tyreke Evans reportedly close to signing a lucrative four-year offer sheet with the New Orleans Pelicans, the Kings have the money to get a deal done with Iguodala.

Iguodala, 29, is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league. For a team that has continually struggled on the defensive end for the past half-decade or so, his presence on the wing would be big for the rebuilding franchise. He averaged 13 points, 5.4 assists and 5.3 rebounds a game this past season with the Denver Nuggets.

If the Kings are able to sign Iguodala, he would immediately fill a large void at small forward. He would also serve as a mentor for enigmatic big man DeMarcus Cousins and rookie Ben McLemore.

There are many teams in pursuit of the veteran forward this offseason, including the Nuggets and Detroit Pistons. Iguodala has set no time table for a final decision.
