The New Orleans Pelicans committed huge money to Tyreke Evans, but they still don't have a definitive plan for how to use the talented wing. As Sean Deveney of Sporting News writes, he could still potentially fill a number of roles for the emerging young team next season.
Tyreke Evans still uncertain of role with Pelicans
Tyreke Evans knows he’ll be a big part of the Pelicans, but his role is still to be determined.

After signing a four-year, $48 million contract with New Orleans this offseason, Evans will obviously have a significant role with the team in some form. Evans told Deveney he still hasn’t spoken to Pelicans coaches about how that will work, though he’s heard the rumors of coming off the bench:
“I haven’t talked to the coaches or anything like that but that’s what they’ve been saying. When the season starts, I don’t know how things will go. Whatever role I am playing, I am definitely looking forward to it. I am going to go out there and play hard and try to win games.”
Evans says he wouldn't have a problem being the sixth man for New Orleans after being a starter with the Sacramento Kings for the first four years of his career. That may not be necessary if coach Monty Williams opts to use him as the starting small forward, howver -- a legitimate possibility at this point.
The versatility afforded by Evans, who can fill multiple positions with his size and court vision, gives Williams multiple options. He'll have to be creative to find minutes for the Pelicans' many perimeter options, which also include Jrue Holiday, Eric Gordon and Austin Rivers.
